What Causes Anxiety Attacks?
Unbeknown to some, anxiety is actually a normal feeling that almost all of us feel at some point in our lives. You know that little jittery feeling you get sometimes, when your heart starts to beat faster, and your palms become sweaty, well that’s anxiety. But what actually makes us feel that way? Let’s dig a little deeper into what causes anxiety attacks.
All kinds of things can make us feel anxious, from something as small as sitting in the dentists waiting room waiting for your turn, or something as big and adventurous as going on your first sky dive. Put simply, an anxiety attack is something that will happen to someone if they are put in an uncomfortable situation or are facing any of their fears. These types of anxiety attacks are perfectly normal.
However, on occasions, anxiety attacks can become a problem. For some, they become a part of their every day life, and they can seem uncontrollable. Sometimes, something little may trigger an attack of anxiety, then other times it may seem as though an anxiety attack happens for no apparent reason at all. Anxiety can get so bad it starts to affect their everyday lives, and can lead to depression. When anxiety gets this bad, it is no longer normal, and a trip to the doctors is advised.
Anxiety disorder is usually triggered by something that has happened at some point in your life. It can be triggered by a sudden death in the family, money troubles, or marital problems. Sometimes, you may not even realise that your anxiety attacks stem from that particular problem, and they can seem to appear out of nowhere.
Anxiety can also be the result of excessive drinking of alcohol or drug taking. Someone who has smoked cannabis, or taken drugs such as ecstasy, and LSD, are going to be more prone to anxiety attacks than someone who hasn’t. Some people even believe that problems with anxiety can be inherited.
When it comes down to it, everyone is different, and what causes an anxiety attack for one person may be different from the other. The important thing to remember is, if you feel like anxiety is taking over your life, you should seek medical help.
